UX Writing covers all text in the user interface and is as important as good UI design!
Characteristics of good UX text:
- Clear: Uses everyday language instead of jargon, easy to understand
- Brief: Says "increase" instead of "increase of up to 61 characters"
- Useful: Tells the user what to do
- Consistent: Uses the same terminology across all platforms
- Human-focused: Speaks the user's language instead of technical terms
Common UX writing examples:
- CTA buttons
- Error messages
- Confirmation notifications
- Empty state texts
- Form labels
Tip: Use friendly "Sorry, the server is busy. Please try again shortly." instead of technical "Error code: 507".
